Just like you, we value family time. At Hamakom we offer a broad and changing array of special Family Programs that allow you to learn, grow, explore and celebrate together.
We offer Shabbat dinners, family learning days, holiday celebrations (such as the Sukkot Family Festival, Taste of Hanukkah Family Celebration, and Family Havdalah), and annual events such as Mitzvah Day, the Purim Shpiel (Play), and Purim Carnival.
Holiday Celebrations
Celebrate with gusto! We know that our young children need to get up and move. It's too much to ask them to sit through services and sermons. Our young family holidays are all designed with that in mind.
From special stories with our rabbis and songs that are familiar, kids are welcome to bounce, sing, and celebrate their way through the Jewish year. A picnic on Sukkot, dancing with the Torah on Simchat Torah, and a costume parade on Purim add to the fun! And of course, friends, parents, and grandparents are encouraged to join in these celebrations!
Some of our Holiday Programs for Families include:
- High Holy Day Family Service & Program
- Hanukkah Celebration
- Purim Shpiel & Carnival
Shabbat Services
Bim Bom Shabbat Services
The second Friday of each month is Family Shabbat at Hamakom! Join us for a different themed Bim-Bom Shabbat service at 5:15pm on the second Friday of the month, geared toward preschool-aged families. We encourage you to also bring your own dairy dinner to enjoy following Bim-Bom Services. Dessert will be provided (RSVP required)!
Community Programs
Community Picnic
HAMAKOM ends the summer with an amazing Community Picnic full of games, water play, and barbecue! This is a great opportunity to mingle with members & smooze with our clergy!
Mitzvah Day
On the first Sunday of November our HAMAKOM community gets together for a day of Tikkun Olam. With workshops and social projects geared to all ages, this is the perfect day to come together as a family for good deeds!
