Rabbi David Mendelson
Rabbi David Mendelson is a graduate of The Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies (class of 2023) in Los Angeles, CA. While at Ziegler, David has been the recipient of the Yechiel Goldhaar Memorial Prize For Excellence In The Study Of Hebrew Literature (2019) along with the Henry Fisher Award For Outstanding Achievement In Jewish Studies (2021, 2023).
Before spending last year as a rabbinic intern at what was then Temple Aliyah, David taught religious school at Congregation Tikvat Jacob in Manhattan Beach, CA as well as at Ikar in Los Angeles, CA. David grew up in Roswell, GA where he discovered his passion for Jewish education. Following a Birthright trip to Israel, David decided to take this passion to the next step and began teaching Judaic Studies at Temple Kol Emeth and Congregation B’nai Torah in the Atlanta suburbs. He also took his love for teaching to Camp Ramah Darom where he joined the education staff in the summer prior to beginning his studies at Ziegler. David graduated from Kennesaw State University with a B.A. in United States History.
In his free time, David enjoys watching films, reading comic books, and listening to his vinyl collection. David is passionate about deepening one’s relationship with God, Torah, and Israel, and he is delighted to be a part of the incredible clergy team at HAMAKOM.
